Renton, WA – an affordable, neighborly city, where Boeing began

The City of Renton, a 21.9-square mile urban community is located at the south end of Lake Washington and has 77,376 residents and 40,650 jobs. Renton is the fifth largest city in King County, with a strong economic base and a diverse marketplace.  Because of the many advantages Renton has to offer, the City has attracted the attention of a growing number of nationally recognized companies that are looking to provide employees and their families with an outstanding quality of life. Renton is centrally located, accessible by four state highways and Interstate 405, and is just minutes away from Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Boeing Field and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Renton offers you the best of the Northwest, without high prices, hassle, traffic and expensive parking!

Renton is a wonderful place to live with terrific neighborhoods, friendly people, diverse housing choices, and beautiful parks. The City recognizes and supports our neighborhoods as one of the primary reasons Renton residents enjoy such a high quality of life. Renton’s Neighborhood Program is a means for the City to successfully maintain good lines of communication with citizens, as well as help citizens undertake improvements or beautification projects through neighborhood grants. Neighborhood picnics also help foster community ties by bringing neighbors together for food and fun. Office space and housing in Renton are considerably less expensive than the two closest business centers of Seattle and Bellevue and numerous new developments provide a greater range of choices.

Renton’s nationally recognized public schools, an excellent technical college and nearby higher learning institutions, offer a learning environment that benefits adults as well as children. The City's parks, theatres, concerts, festivals, and special events provide diverse entertainment opportunities for residents and visitors, and easy access to the virtually unlimited cultural and recreational opportunities available in the Greater Puget Sound region.

Long known best as the home of the Boeing aircraft industry, Renton today has experienced tremendous development and business opportunities in an ideal central location and has a strong pro-business climate. The City is thriving in the high-tech, Puget Sound region with businesses that are relocating and expanding. Major new housing projects are being added; great new and established neighborhoods are being revitalized and created.

Renton draws from an exceptionally talented and well-educated workforce filled with world leaders in the high-tech, manufacturing, medical, biotech, and service industries. Renton has a strong economic base
, a diverse marketplace, and a business climate that has attracted the attention of nationally recognized
companies that have sought to provide their employees and their families with an outstanding quality of life.

Renton works hard to create an environment that supports business development while enhancing the quality of life in the community. The City's award-winning Department of Community and Economic Development, in concert with the business community, actively promotes and develops economic activity in the City with the goal of strengthening Renton's tax base and quality of life.

In May 2006 the Seattle Seahawks announced plans for a state-of-the-art training facility to be located along Lake Washington. The 200,000 square foot waterfront facility, second-largest in the NFL, located within the northern city limits of Renton is scheduled to open in the summer of 2008. This privately funded practice facility is situated on 19 acres of industrial property. It will house a permanent indoor practice facility, the team’s current Kirkland front office departments and will also accommodate corporate sponsorships and Fan Development.

The following March, the Seahawks announced an expanded partnership with Virginia Mason Medical Center, naming the club’s new state-of-the-art football training facility the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC).Partnership with Virginia Mason, recognized as one of the top hospitals in the country, will allow the Seahawks organization to consolidate into one facility, attract and retain free agents and bring its training camp back home.
